Privacy & Retention

How long Enscript keeps your data, where it is processed, and how you can remove it. This is a product policy, not legal advice.

How long we keep your files

  • Original uploads: retained no longer than 7 days after upload, then removed. We keep the original only long enough to transcribe it and let you retry if a page fails.
  • Transcripts and extracted page text: retained no longer than 30 days after the job completes, then removed.

Deleting your data yourself

You can delete an individual job, or your entire account, at any time from your dashboard. When we accept a deletion request, your access to that content is removed immediately. Behind the scenes, we mark the content for cleanup and keep a technical tombstone for a 24-hour safety window during which the content is already inaccessible while background cleanup runs.

Because some of your data lives with a processing provider, provider-side cleanup can occasionally fail and be retried. We remove your access immediately on an accepted deletion and retry any cleanup that does not succeed on the first attempt; we do not claim instantaneous, absolute erasure everywhere at the moment you click delete.

Financial records we keep longer

If you make a purchase, we retain the financial records for that transaction for 7 years to meet tax and accounting obligations. Those retained rows are de-linked from your Firebase account identifier (UID) when you delete your account, so they no longer point back to you.

Where your document pages are processed

To transcribe your document, its pages are sent to DeepInfra, which acts as a processing provider on our behalf and processes the pages solely to return transcriptions to Enscript.

See our Terms of Use for your responsibilities and the permissions you grant when you upload a document.
